A Search for Flexibiltiy and Sleek Design

For Peninsula, a large team of specialists in Health & Safety and Employment Law in the UK, the  ecision to relocate to new office premises also meant a dramatic transformation toward a more modern working environment. For their contemporary new office, they needed products that offered flexibility and a sleek design. As the company developed this re-envisioned space, Humanscale’s Liberty chair proved to be a key part of the solution.

The vision for this project prioritized a shift away from a conventional, heavy corporate environment and toward a more welcoming, streamlined aesthetic, with the goal of creating a desirable place to work and greet clients. Noel Pilling, Peninsula’s Health & Safety Director, explains, “One of the key areas to get right was the office “workstation,” in particular the desk and chair set-up. We eventually settled on the Humanscale Liberty Chair and have not regretted the decision.”

As their transformation progressed, Peninsula began to see that a less formal and more dynamic work space would provide stimulation and increased productivity.

Choosing the Chair

Once most of the major goals of the design brief were achieved and the office had gained some degree of next-generation appeal, it was time to complete the space with new chairs.

Ralph Capper Interiors created an installation of Tangent 80:80 desking, Humanscale Liberty task chairs and a series of Bisley filing systems. Liberty had been specified because it fit an extremely diverse range of body types. The Managing Director of Peninsula and a select group of senior staff members were then invited to inspect the installations. Peninsula’s Health & Safety department also had a keen interest in the final choice of task chair. After all considerations had been made, it was a unanimous decision: Humanscale’s Liberty chair fit perfectly into the client’s brief, due to its outstanding performance, sophisticated aesthetics, and ability to accommodate more than 95% of the population.

Specifically, Noel Pilling noted that one of the many reasons the company ultimately selected Liberty was because they had “…a variety of employee needs, including some staff with disabilities.”

Liberty Chair Completes the Solution

After the Liberty chair was selected amongst several other options to complete the office transformation, Peninsula was left with a highly efficient, modern working environment that successfully accommodates the staff’s daily activities. This has resulted in a happier, more efficient workforce — one that can support Peninsula’s growth, enhance its inter-departmental communication, and thrive in its flexible working styles. Noel Pilling confirms, saying, “Following our move to new and fabulous office facilities, it appears our decision to utilise the expertise of Humanscale was the right one.”
