Humanscale Products Featured on Screens Big and Small
Seating and Monitor Arms Set to Appear in a Number of Upcoming Films and TV Series
New York, September 29, 2009 — Humanscale products continue to be a favorite among Hollywood set designers, as several seating and monitor arm solutions have been chosen to adorn the sets of a dozen feature films and prime time television shows throughout the Fall 2009 season and beyond. Humanscale products will share the screen with decorated movie and TV stars such as Bruce Willis, Robin Williams, John Travolta, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Hugh Laurie and Kiefer Sutherland, among others.
Not only does the Humanscale Freedom chair appear on the set of Bruce Willis’s latest film, Surrogates, but part of the movie was filmed in Humanscale’s Boston showroom. For two days the crew of Surrogates transformed the showroom into a beauty salon for robots—complete with oils, drills and dry gas—and filmed a scene with Bruce Willis and costar Rosamund Pike. The film debuted on Friday, September 25 and was the second-highest grossing new release of the weekend. Freedom will make another motion picture cameo later this fall in the November 25 film Old Dogs, starring Robin Williams, John Travolta, Justin Long and Seth Green.
The Freedom chair will also appear on the small screen in the new series NCIS: Los Angeles, which premiered Tuesday, September 22 and drew a whopping 18.7 million viewers. A spin-off of the highly rated NCIS—a show that has featured Humanscale seating in past seasons—NCIS: Los Angeles stars LL Cool J, Chris O’Donnell and Linda Hunt in an international crime drama set within the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
Humanscale seating returns to the set of NCIS this season, along with several other hit series. The Freedom chair will again appear on prime time dramas Private Practice and Medium, as well as the hit HBO show Big Love. It was also spotted on the latest season of the HBO smash Entourage. Freedom’s mesh-backed counterpart, Liberty, will be featured on the sets of Kiefer Sutherland’s 24 and the CBS comedy Rules of Engagement. And both the Freedom and Liberty chairs will support the doctors of Fox’s hit medical drama House featuring Hugh Laurie.
Farther out on the horizon, Humanscale’s M7 monitor arm will appear in the highly anticipated sequel to the Summer 2008 blockbuster Iron Man featuring Robert Downey Jr. Set to open May 7, 2010, Iron Man 2 also stars Scarlett Johansson and Don Cheadle, and is directed by Jon Favreau.
