Humanscale’s Faces in the Wild Slated for September 16, 2009
Ninth Annual Art Auction & Design Competition Benefits World Wildlife Fund
New York, August 25, 2009 — Humanscale’s ninth annual Faces in the Wild art auction and design competition will take place on September 16, 2009, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the company’s New York City showroom. All proceeds from the event will be matched by Humanscale and donated to World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the leader in international efforts to protect endangered species and their habitats.
Faces in the Wild 2009 will feature approximately 75 pieces of original artwork by artists and designers from around the world, including Black + Blum, Scott Wilson of MNML, Todd Bracher, and lauded nature photographer Frans Lanting.
In addition to online, live and silent auctions, a panel of distinguished judges—including Ken Wilson, Principal of Envision Design; Julie Lasky, Editor of Change Observer; and Allan Chochinov, Editor-in-Chief of Core77—will evaluate all entries and choose three winning pieces. Author and design critic Mayer Rus will serve as auctioneer for the sixth time.
In 2008, Faces in the Wild generated a total donation of $150,000 for wildlife conservation—a record-setting total for the annual event. Since 2000, Faces in the Wild has raised more than $350,000, including matching donations by Humanscale. All proceeds from the event go directly to WWF. By 2015, the organization hopes to conserve 19 of the world’s most important natural places—including the Galapagos and Congo Basin.
