Humanscale Products Honored by Interiors & Sources Readers' Choice Awards
Horizon™ LED Task Light Wins in Lighting Category
NEW YORK, December 8, 2011 — Two Humanscale products have been honored by the Interiors & Sources Readers’ Choice: Best Products of 2011 Awards. Horizon, the sleek, new LED task light, has been named the award’s winner in the Lighting category. Trea, Humanscale’s innovative, sustainable chair, earned an Honorable Mention in the Seating category.
Now in their third year, the Interiors & Sources Readers’ Choice Awards are judged and selected by readers of the magazine. The Awards encompass multiple categories, including flooring, seating, lighting, wall covering and more. According to Interiors & Sources, the voting was close this year in several categories—attesting to the high caliber of the products considered.
A visually striking fusion of form and function, Horizon is the first LED task light to utilize Thin Film LED Technology. Designed by Peter Stathis and Michael McCoy, Horizon overcomes the weaknesses of conventional LED lights by offering brilliant 3000K illumination and excellent light distribution in a slender profile. With a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 80, Horizon uses a number of high-intensity micro LEDs that surround several layers of polycarbonate and optical films to create an ultra-wide footprint of warm, glare-free light that casts only one shadow on the work surface. Its built-in dimmer control offers seven settings for dimmability, providing both energy savings and customizable levels of illumination. The Interiors & Sources Readers’ Choice: Best Products of 2011 Award adds to Horizon’s long list of accolades, which includes the 2011 Red Dot Design Award, the 2011 Spark:Pro Award at the Spark level, the 2011 Green GOOD DESIGN Award, among many others.
Embodying a perfect combination of form and function, Trea offers visual restraint and natural comfort that make it ideal for many applications in almost any environment. Designed by Todd Bracher, Trea’s beautiful, minimal form is enhanced by the Humanscale Design Studio’s groundbreaking “solid state” recline mechanism that involves no moving parts while providing exceptional ergonomic comfort. With only three major parts and minimal hardware, Trea exemplifies Humanscale’s long-standing commitment to sustainability.
The Interiors & Sources Readers’ Choice: Best Products of 2011 Awards winners have been announced on the magazine’s website and are featured in the magazine’s December 2011 issue.
