Humanscale Participates in Clerkenwell Design Week

LONDON, MAY 2011 ¬ Humanscale is joining more than 60 other showrooms and a number of architectural and design practices for Clerkenwell Design Week, taking place from Tuesday, May 24 through Thursday, May 26.

Humanscale’s Clerkenwell Design Week events will reflect the local community, beginning with an exhibition of visionary student work from the Sir John Cass Department of Art, Media and Design at London Metropolitan University. The judging panel will consist of leading figures in the design industry, including:
 

  • Andrew McLean, Associate at Scott Brownrigg
  • Linda Morey Smith, FSCD Managing Director of MoreySmith 
  • Mark Simpson, Director of Interior Design of HKS London 
  • Henrietta Thompson,  Editor-at-Large at Wallpaper Magazine
  • Phil Hutchinson, Joint Managing Director of BDGworkfutures
  • Lynda Relph-Knight, Editor at Design Week
  • Diana Monkhouse, Interior Designer at Swanke Hayden Connell Architects
  • Paul Scrivener, Creative Director at MCM Architecture LTD
  • Robert Mull, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Design at London Metropolitan University
  • Aidan Walker, Programme Producer at Clerkenwell Design Week


The judging will take place on May 25 and the winning student will be awarded an internship with Humanscale’s London and New York design studios. On the evening of May 26, Humanscale will host an exclusive party by the legendary House music brand HedKandi.

In addition to these events, Humanscale will showcase a number of the products that were on display at the Milan Furniture Fair, including:
 

  • The Horizon LED Task Light, by designers Peter Stathis and Michael McCoy, which has recently won the Red Dot Award for Product Design 2011 and is the first task light to utilise Thin Film LED Technology.
  • Diffrient World chair, Humanscale’s first foray into all-mesh task seating, which won a 2010 Red Dot Best of the Best Award.
  • Upgraded versions of the groundbreaking Element LED task light—the Element Vision LED Light and the Element 790 LED Light, which push functionality and usability to new levels.
  • The M8 Monitor Arm, which offers incredible weight capacity in a sleek profile to accommodate the widest range of monitors available today.
  • The Paramount, which is the easiest, most flexible way to display multiple monitors in a dynamic environment.
