LONDON, October 12, 2010 – Humanscale will internationally debut its Element Vision LED task light at the 2010 Orgatec Furniture Fair, October 26-30, in Cologne, Germany. Featuring cutting-edge advancements in MCX LED Technology, Element Vision offers performance and light output never before seen from an LED task light.

Designed by Humanscale Design Director Mark McKenna and the Humanscale Design Studio, Vision utilises a round, multi-chip LED that eliminates all the weaknesses of traditional LED task lights. It produces a broad, consistent footprint of warm, inviting 3000K illumination that casts just one shadow on the work surface - unlike most current-generation LED task lights, which create a series of distracting shadows. And with a Colour-Rendering Index (CRI) of 85, Vision’s light output is high quality and true colour - a far cry from the poor, bluish-coloured light produced by traditional LEDs.

In addition to unmatched light quality, Vision offers functional, energy-saving features that further separate it from the competition. An intuitive dimmer switch located on top of the light assembly provides adjustable levels of illumination, allowing the user to customise light intensity according to each task. Additionally, a Passive Infrared (PIR) occupancy sensor automatically turns Vision off when the user leaves the area, and back on again when the user returns - a valuable feature for achieving LEED credits. The innovative PIR sensor is attuned to humans’ unique heat footprint, so only a person can activate the sensor to turn the unit back on.

Vision’s unique aesthetic is born from its heat-shedding design. A series of metal fins keeps the unit cool to optimise performance and extend the life of the LED, which is rated for up to 60,000 hours. The innovative heat sink mimics the shape of a traditional task shade to reduce glare for even more usability. And the entire LED assembly is easily replaceable in the field - unlike traditional LED lights - ensuring a long life of service.

Built for exceptional sustainability, Vision consumes only seven watts of power while producing light output equivalent to as much as 90 watts of incandescent lighting. It is constructed primarily of eco-friendly aluminium, contains up to 80% recycled and 99% recyclable content, and ships in 70% recycled packaging. Vision can also be integral to the achievement of a number of valuable LEED credits.

For global purchasing flexibility, a single Vision SKU can be used around the globe. This is accomplished through an interchangeable plug for electrical outlet compatibility most anywhere in the world, regardless of voltage. For added versatility, it is offered with 19 different mounts, including a series of panel mounts for systems furniture.

Engineered with perfect internal counterbalance, Vision offers fingertip adjustability and effortless positioning without the friction knobs or rigid joints found on most other adjustable task lights. This encourages users to direct light exactly where it’s needed and away from reflective surfaces.
