NEW YORK, June 16, 2009 — Humanscale has netted five big awards at the NeoCon World’s Trade Fair 2009—the largest exhibition of contract furnishings in North America—including three Best of NeoCon awards and two Grand Prizes in Buildings magazine’s Product Innovations Awards. Humanscale’s M2 monitor arm is the company’s most lauded new product at NeoCon, earning both a Gold Best of NeoCon award in the Office Accessories category and a Grand Prize in the Product Innovations Awards. The Element LED task light received Best of NeoCon Gold in the Lighting: Task/Desktop Furniture-Integrated category. The Humanair air purifier also picked up a Product Innovations Grand Prize from Buildings, and the T5 Point-of-Care Technology Cart was awarded Best of NeoCon Silver for Healthcare Furniture.

The M2’s advanced engineering promises to revolutionize the dynamic monitor arm category. Utilizing a high-performance mechanical spring—instead of a bulky, failure-prone gas cylinder—the M2 offers dynamic adjustability in an ultra-slim and eco-conscious design. Backed by Humanscale’s 15-year 24/7 warranty, the M2 offers a remarkably long serviceable life. Made of 52% recycled and 99% recyclable materials—including significant use of 100% recycled aluminum—it contributes to a number of valuable LEED credits. In addition to two top awards at NeoCon, the M2 was recently named Best Ergonomic Solution by mix interiors magazine for Mixology09 in London.
Element represents groundbreaking advancements in LED technology and is the first of its kind to meet all the Department of Energy’s criteria for an LED task light. Thanks to a single high-intensity Multi-Chip LED and a unique heat-shedding design, Element eliminates all the shortcomings of previous LED task lights while providing unprecedented long life. Rated for 60,000 hours—up to 30 years in a standard 9-to-5 office environment—it draws only seven watts of power while producing light output equivalent to a 70-watt incandescent bulb. Slated to earn the Energy Star label, Element offers unmatched sustainability and can be integral to a number of valuable LEED credits.
Humanair—Humanscale’s first high-performance air purifier—employs patented Clean Air Zone technology developed in Sweden that creates a pocket of clean air around deskbound workers. It operates in virtual silence, produces no ozone, and creates no noticeable draft, which allows units to be positioned near the user so clean air can be directed right where it’s needed—where the user breathes. The Clean Air Zone approach represents the most effective and efficient way to deliver clean air to workers who spend the bulk of their day in front of a computer. Plus, Humanair consumes just seventeen watts of energy, exceeding Energy Star requirements by 275%.
The T5 Point-of-Care Technology Cart is the latest in Humanscale’s line of ergonomic computer-on-wheels healthcare solutions, featuring excellent mobility and a high-performance power system for both laptops and PCs. Designed to meet the ergonomic requirements of 99% of users in both sitting and standing postures, the T5 provides independent adjustability of the keyboard, monitor, work surface and overall cart height for maximum user comfort. With its small size and minimal footprint, the T5 is ideal for the tight corridors and compact spaces common in healthcare environments.
